| Description |
This variant is often diagnosed in stage I or II and generally carries
a good prognosis. Cervical, supraclavicular, and mediastinal
lymphadenopathy is common. Morphologically, the lymph node is partitioned
by collagen bands. Lacunar and classic Reed Sternberg cells are present,
as well as some small T cells, histiocytes, granulocytes and plasma cells.
Some necrosis may be present.
Subvariants include "cellular phase" NS with less fibrosis, a synticial
variant and a lymphocyte depleted subtype with sheets of RS cells and few
lymphocytes. |
