Neonatal Hepatitis B
Treatment depends on the mother's Hepatitis B surface antigen status (HepBsAg):
Negative

2.5 mcg of Recombivax or 10 mcg of Energix-B prior to discharge from nursery
or at one month.

doses.
Positive

Should receive 0.5 mL Hepatitis B immunoglobulin within 12 hours of birth

Should receive 5 mcg of Recombivax or 10 mcg of Energix B at a separate
site.

Unknown
-
Should receive 5 mcg of Recombivax or 10 mcg of Energix B
-
Determine mother's HepBsAg status, if positive, give 0.5 mL Hepatitis B
immunoglobulin within one week.
