DNA-Interactive Drugs

This section contains supplemental information about the DNA-interactive agents used for research purposes; some are also used clinically and are cross-referenced to the clinical drug list.  For each agent, a chemical structure is given, along with synonyms, database index codes, mode of interaction with DNA, DNA site specificity and physical characteristics pertinent to its use in the laboratory.  Any requirement for special methods or storage conditions are noted.

In addition to the abbreviations for DNA nucleotides (A,G,C,T), the IUB symbols for ambiguous sequences are also used to express sequence preference of drugs and proteins in these appendices.  The following key is used:

Any base (A or G or C or T)
R Purine (A or G)
Y Pyrimidine (C or T)
W A or T
S G or C
